Cast Iron Coding, Inc

Our History

Cast Iron Coding was created in fall 2004 by longtime colleagues Zach Davis and Lucas Thurston. Zach and Lucas had been working on a freelance basis, and Cast Iron Coding is the product of their decision to start working as a team. After 6 years of life in New York, Zach moved to Portland in 2006 to bring the team under the same roof. Since its early days, Cast Iron Coding has expanded to include a network of artists, designers, and partner agencies. For more information, please contact us.

About Cast Iron Coding LLC

Our Mission

At Cast Iron Coding we think that websites should be inexpensive to develop, easy to maintain, and, above all, user-friendly. We realize these beliefs in practice by:

  • leveraging open source web applications to meet our clients' needs
  • focusing on web standards and accessibility guidelines
  • creating intuitive, straight-forward, forward-thinking web interfaces

By taking advantage of cutting-edge web development techniques, Cast Iron Coding builds sites that last—sites that you can feel good about.

We Make Web Publishing Easy

All websites developed by Cast Iron Coding are run on TYPO3, an open source, enterprise-class content management system. This means that all of the sites we develop come complete with a rich set of features and functionality, including:

  • A user-friendly backend interface with detailed user-rights management that makes it possible for anyone in your organization to add and edit content after the site is launched.
  • Complete separation of content and design, which provides the flexibility for your site to grow with your organization.
  • A long list of out-of-the-box functionality including site-wide search, versioning, dynamic menus, on-the-fly graphic generation, content syndication, and various other tools. Click here for our brief list of TYPO3's best features or click here for a complete list from typo3.com.
