Meet the Team: Gabe Blair
Senior Web Developer and Project Manager
Upon leaving his home town of Chicago Gabe Blair spent some time in New York City, where he obtained an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Hunter College of the City University of New York. Along the way he did everything from managing a high-volume restaurant in the East Village to starting his own record label. During his tenure as a pricing analyst at a major pharmaceutical company, he honed his programming and web development skills during evenings and weekends by working through iterations of his record label's website. After moving to Portland in 2006 he spent a year as a freelancer on various web projects before joining Cast Iron Coding full-time.
Gabe has experience with all aspects of support and development at Cast Iron Coding. Whether creating or evaluating TYPO3 extensions, coding valid standards-compliant HTML/CSS, executing a full site build, or just fielding a simple question, he enjoys learning through problem solving. He is involved in planning and implementation of various ongoing projects and brings an ever-growing wealth of experience and knowledge to the table. As a senior developer, he is a valuable resource for other team members and an integral part of the development team.
Outside of Cast Iron Coding you will likely find Gabe spending time with his family, or traversing the town on his bicycle. He also enjoys playing guitar, singing, and writing music. On rare occasions you might be able to catch his three-piece rock band performing. He happily struggles with an ever-growing list of home improvement projects, and hopes to one day think of himself as a decent gardener.
