Each year, the CSLR sponsors numerous projects, which eventually lead to project related publications and, in some cases, conferences. As with the people section of the website, the Center came to Cast Iron Coding with a wealth of project-related content that needed to be brought into TYPO3. In this case, however, the larger challenge was finding a clear, usable way to organize and present all of the project data to the user. Furthermore, each project needed to link to each of the participants as well as and and all publications that came out of the project.
By carefully planning out the architecture and organization of the site during the pre-production stages, Cast Iron Coding was able to lay a framework of pages in the people, publications, and projects section that made the rich, integrated nature of the CSLR site possible. The addition of the highly usable sub-navigation to the site allows users to quickly see the relationship between the various projects and their parent categories. Equally important, the design characteristics of the projects section was normalized and made consistent across each page.
